Anyway, time for Alesha, round two. She actually sounds good. She really does have a Dolly Parton voice. I don't know why Simon hates her so much. He's silent during the final vote, which means she gets the OK -- and a ticket to Hollywood -- from the remaining 2 judges.

8:38 Jay Smoove is a hip-hop artist performing an original song, "Beautiful Lady." Complete with a confetti and rose petal shower mid-song. He's actually not 100 percent bad, but he's more comedy relief than anything else. Especially when he pulls out some shriek-worthy high notes. Simon calls it corny, while Paula and Randy are more diplomatic, but still deny him.
Simon sweeps up the confetti to help a female staffer. After, of course, exchanging some obligatory banter with Seacrest. Aww.

She really did sound a lot better. But does this mean she will never be able to sing a song that involves powerful notes at the end (belting)? Because if so, she's not going to get very far. That's the kind of singing American Idolers thrive on.
