Despite this week's controversy, Paula Abdul won't be leaving AI any time soon.

That's what Cecile Frot-Coutaz, FremantleMedia North America CEO and "Idol" executive producer, said in this interview.

The exec's thought's on Tuesday's snafu?

"I love that everyone was talking about it," she told The Associated Press over lunch in her office two days after the show. "It was so unexpected. It was something that took up 2 seconds of airtime. You'd think there was no other news on television."

In the article, Frot-Coutaz is a little more ambivalent about the future of "Idol Gives Back." She hints at maybe doing the charity extravaganza every two years, rather than every year.

of course they won't get rid of paula abdefintelyoncrack. she's their greatest bringer in of publicity. i have to wonder, though, if maybe part of it is staged...
