Ironically, out of tonight's three songs -- two of which were chosen by the AI machine -- each contestant fared worst on the song of their own choosing.
It wasn't so much a testament to execs' song selection skills, but rather evidence of possible fatigue among the remaining three. In the end, the week didn't produce a memorable standout, but contestants didn't falter entirely.
At the night's onset, Syesha seemed to be the obvious choice to go home, and the performances confirmed that prediction. Part of it wasn't her fault. Show insiders picked songs that only reinforced her role as a belter, and her own choice, "Fever" just made her appear bound for Broadway.
Anyway, here are my song-by-song rankings:
1. David Archuleta, "And So It Goes"
2. David Cook, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
3. David Cook, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
4. Syesha Mercado, "If I Ain't Got You"
5. Syesha Mercado, "Fever"
6. David Cook, "Dare You to Move"
7. David Archuleta, "Longer"
8. David Archuleta, "With You"
9. Syesha Mercado, "Hit Me Up"

Syesha doesn't have a CHANCE. there's no possible friggin way she has a bigger fanbase to squeak her by the davids
yeah, what anonymous said. I was pretty unimpressed in general tonight. I liked Syesha and David, but I don't care about them in general and wouldn't buy the CDs. I love David Cook, but he seems really tired. I miss fun Castro.
i miss a season that had contestants I actually cared about.
Best time "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
His take on that was AMAZING
I miss Danny Noriega. That girl had SASS
