So my viewing partners are screaming in disbelief/disappointment at Chris Sligh's elimination, but I'm not too surprised. I'm not going to lie...I wanted Haley to go. I was SO CLOSE.
But Chris didn't match up vocally this week, and every little thing about his performance was far from magic. Sure, his departure might be slightly premature, but for the first couple weeks of the competition, Chris was gliding largely on personality. We didn't get a chance to see that in recent rounds. And the whole Christian music controversy didn't help, either.
Let's just say the voting public isn't kind to ugly people. Unless you have a mohawk.
Chris was quirky, but not quirky enough to generate the Taylor Hicks appeal that caught on last season. Lesson learned? Fat men finish last. Or 10th.

It's infair to say that "America isn't nice to ugly people". Chris had great personality, he was funny, and he was talented. Unfortunatly his performance last night sucked. And while he has had good performances, I can't think of any that were amazing.
