bye, dad!

Looks like David Archuleta's father finally wore out his welcome on the AI set.

Multiple sources, including this one, are reporting Jeff Archuleta no longer has backstage access. It's a result of his decision for David to include some of Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" in his performance of "Stand by Me" last week.

That move reportedly caused some legal problems with the song's producers and publishers.

David's dad was banned from the "Star Search" stage when David participated in that talent competition years ago.

Think all this could have any bearing on Archuleta's chances of winning?

(Reminder: Tuesday's episode, which airs at 8 p.m. on Fox, will include footage of the three finalists' hometown visits. Read a recap of those visits here.)

Aren't the contestants supposed to be coming up with their OWN arrangements anyway... not getting their dad to do it for them..?

Yeah, they are supposed to make their own arrangments but then again, they can also take someone else's advice or someone else's arrangement, like the David Cook did when he performed "Billie Jean". I think it's how you deliver the song that matters. Poor Little Archuleta though. Is that the best scandal that they can come up with?
