shoot! jason's eliminated

Well, there was no fourth-place Daughtry-like surprise tonight. Jason Castro, the correct singer in many fans' minds, was sent home in a relatively unsurprising ousting.

From publicized behind-the-scene comments to fumbled lyrics to his possible utterance of "don't vote" Tuesday, it seemed clear at least in the last two weeks that Jason was ready to go.

I don't think his performances entirely declined in quality, and he's far from this season's Sanjaya. At least two of his songs, "Hallelujah" and "Over the Rainbow," still stand out in many fans' minds as among the most memorable moments of the season.

The problem? Jason said it best seconds prior to his elimination: inexperience. He has a limited routine, and doesn't yet have the professional gumption to personalize untraditional genres as David Cook would.

Then, of course, there's the argument that Jason's breed of music just wasn't conducive to the AI machine. It's probably best he left at this point. Can you imagine him doing "This Is My Now"? He'd freak out.

I'm still a bit sad, though.

What do you guys think of Jason's departure? Did the right person go home? Think Paula's snafu last week had any bearing on his ousting?

paula had nothing to do with it. it was a matter of jason running out of ways to impress us and bad song choices. I have to say, though I am sorry that he didn't leave on a better song, but I guess that performance showed who he is... a goofy kid

Nope, Paula's stupidity had nothing to do with Jason's lack of talent. Next week, it's going to be buh-bye to Syesha, and I will do the happy dance.

That "I Shot the Sheriff" song was the worse so far this season. He got himself eliminated...seems like he did it on purpose!

i don't know if it was worse than Danny Noriega's "Tainted Love," but at least Noriega brought some sass and some hip shaking!

Those closeup shots of Jason's eyes were hot HOTT

I'm sad. I liked Jason and Brooke the best the whole time because they actually brought something to this show that its never had before.

Now I feel like it's the same ol same ol

Cheap knock offs of current artists and former contestants.

I'm not sure if I'll keep watching.

Sonya, I wish these haters up on here would quit being anonymous so I could internet-smash them without feeling so much like a loser.

Haha.

The right person went home. Syesha's kicking ass, but her name's not David, and next week she'll be gone. Then I'll continue to write pervy, desperate posts about David Cook.

maybe we can all dress up like bullfighters and do happy dances.

The right person went home. Castro should have been gone weeks ago. Finally.

Next week, I would send home David A. To me he is just about boring and cookie cutter as it gets. He completely lacks personailty and every song he sings sounds exactly the same. I honestly don't understand the judges love affair for him. He is not ready to be a big star. I want Syesha and David Cook in the finals. Syesha had a rough start, but the last few weeks, she has been hot. And David Cook is by far the best all around.

I already miss his dreds, and i wasn't even a fan. He's going to turn up on some random VH1 reality show before too long, though
