tonight's guys: better than ever

For the first time this season, I actually enjoyed watching the guys. Tonight, we not only got some on-spot vocals and song choices, but some unexpected originality as well. David Cook likely converted even more fans with his guitar-playing, rock-inspired take on an unexpected Lionel Richie song.

And Jason Castro proved he can do more than just play a guitar with his thoughtful, engaging take on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

Here's my rankings for the night:

1. David Cook

2. Jason Castro

3. David Hernandez

4. Michael Johns

5. David Archuleta

6. Danny Noriega

7. Chikezie

8. Luke Menard

Thoughts?

As I said in my text, I voted (texted, at least) for the first time EVER because I'm scared to death that Jason Communist Hippie Stoner Castro is going to go home because all his fans are slackers. I also voted for David Cook, who was freaking awesome. I didn't bother voting for paralyzed vocal cord, because there are tons of 16-year-old girls to do that for me.
I hope that Hernandez, Chikezie and/or Luke/Patrick Dempsey/Orlando Bloom go home. I really just would like to see David Hernandez sing Celine and take his shirt off at the same time — that would be entertainment.
But NOTHING beats Jason Castro taking on that Leonard Cohen/Jeff Buckley/Rufus Wainwright masterpiece and still looking like a pro. And he had the hilarious embarrassing story.

Seriously. This was the best night EVAR.

ooh wait, I have rankings too!

actually, no, they're the same as the first comment, so ... nevermind.

Can we start calling him Archie Vocal Cord? Also, do you agree that once it gets down to twelve, the girls are gonna start dropping like flies?

You hit it spot on. I rank them exactly the way you had them, sonya

I agree that starting next week, the girls are all going to be leaving, fast. With the exception of maybe Carly and Brooke, who are my favorites, of course.

Yeah, hopefully Amanda will be the first.

I wish Danny had sung "I touch Myself." If he had, he would have earned my vote. At this point he needs to go for pure comedy.
