There is no doubting David Cook's talent as a singer, but it really makes the judges look like fools when they start praising his uniqueness, then the next day it comes out that he copied somebody else's cover of the MJ original.
BTW, I remember the same controversy around Chris Daughtry when he sang a modernized cover of Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" only to find out that he copied it as well. I don't think that hurt Daughtry much, so I think Cook will be ok.
As far as Dolly Parton goes, I just hope they don't have to sing Dolly songs, hopefully they will get to choose any country song. If they have to choose Dolly songs, it might be a long night, because so many of her songs are dated and associated with her very unique voice.
I agree with Scott's comment about the contestants singing Dolly songs. I don't even want to hear them try. It's like doing Whitney... well not really. But kind of.
I really don't want to hear them butcher Dolly Parton songs. No one can sing Dolly EXCEPT Dolly. I hope it's just a country theme. That would give everyone a chance.
