it's a group thing

Obligatory recap. We get the awkward metaphors -- hamburgers and luaus, anyone? -- as well as Brooke's pouty face. And yes, in retrospect I do think the judges were a bit too excessive in their praise of David Cook. Go ahead and hate me.

OK, down to business. Kind of.

First up: Jason Castro. Wow. He is so high right now.

Seacrest spices things up by pulling the "I'll divide you into groups to extend stalling" routine. Fine, play that way. So Jason starts group No. 1.

Next, David Cook, who dodges any mention of his cancer-striken brother while answering a question about being emotional last night. Anyway, he ends up in group No. 2.

Now, it's Carly, who accuses Simon of being too hard on her this season. She joins Jason in group 1.

OK, here's Kirsty Lee, sporting some major boob padding tonight. And there is also some major tension between her and Simon. Maybe of a sexual nature. Who knows? Anyway, she ends up in group 2 with David C.

How confusing is this?!?
